A simple question of art.

So... you have a bitching idea with cool characters and a great story. It should be easy to find an artist right? After asking every one I know and searched through the internet I came across a website, a forum for artists looking for work and writers like myself looking for artists. Still, asking an artist to work for free when it is the only form of income is a big ask unless you have a publishing contract ready to be signed and an actual plan on getting your comic book out there.

Took me a while but after sending random emails asking questions, I began to understand what I needed to do. I knew that I didn't want to go through a publishers yet and having a girlfriend that's a graphic designer, that could design my comic, who works for a design and print company, who could print it for a fraction of what it would normally cost, made it easy for me to decide to publish it myself.

Great, so now I'm creating my own business on top of writing a comic. Hadn't really thought that far ahead to be honest but Torn Asunder comics is born! In my head at least.

With the mini I'm paying the same artist who did the cover to do the panel art and word it too, for $60 a page. Which is reasonable for the amount of work that goes into producing a page of art. But for my main comic I don't think I can afford that unless I can come up with some up-front money. So I have to find an artist to work for free.

Eventually, I hope that someone I met on zwol, who lives in oxford and is perfect for the project, will come through with the goods and become my artist. So I'm crossing my fingers, that we can work things out and get things going!
