The Spear of Chamer

My graphic novel is a beast in comic book standards and I estimate that it could run a dozen issues that's 120 pages of comic. Comic book legend Alan Moore said that graphic novel should be about 100 pages of comic,so I realised that maybe for my first venture into the comic book industry I should work on something smaller. I took the advice I was given and put my beast on hold for a while and started to work on a mini series, see the title above.

No more than 4 issues, nothing too big so I can get people interested in working with me and then get cash coming in so I can tackle the beast and maybe just release it as a full blown graphic novel. Also looked into web comics as a good way to cut costs and to use the internet to promote my stuff. The mini series will eventually be on here! With a chance to buy a hard copy from the site and adware to support my costs.

Commissioned another artist too, to do the cover for issue one of the spear of chamer. The fore and background will be far more complex and is going to cost me a whole lot more, but if you want to spend any money on a comic it should be on a bitching cover. That's how I'm rationalizing it to myself anyway!

The story is set in and around Mexico about 500 years before the coming of Cortez and his Spanish ships in the desert of northern Mexico which would be todays New Mexico. It centres around the figure of Hunts-in-the-Dark, a Comanche native American who fell in battle and was visited by a vampire known to him only as the Dead man.

The undead warrior roams the desert plain and its valleys and canyons in search of the dead men and protecting the tribes of the area from "the beasts that no man can stand against" Ixchell is mayan and a vampire and has come to the area in search of the spear, an instrument of darkness and a key between the lands of the living and the realms of the dead. The artist was quite excited to draw what I had in mind for the front cover so it should be good! plain
